It is my pleasure to welcome you to the webpage of the Department of European Studies where three European languages and cultures co-exist. The Department comprises three (3) units: Russian, French and German and offers courses not only in these languages, but also in their cultures and civilisations, politics, economy, history and institutions. 

 The Department of European Studies is noted for being one of the first to be established for both the Faculty of Arts and the University of Ibadan, when the University of Ibadan was known as the University College Ibadan (UCI). Our graduates are spread across all spheres of life, making progress in Postgraduate institutions all over the world, while also being relevant in diplomatic circles, foreign affairs, Military and Para-Military, and within the public space and academe.
